Area events & qualifiers

Our riding club belongs to British Riding Club Area 15. There are annual British Riding Club competitions including Show Jumping, Style Jumping, Dressage, Riding Test, Festival of the Horse (show jumping and cross country), Horse Trials (one day event), Combined Training (Dressage & Show Jumping)

 

The teams and individuals who participate in Area 15 competitions if successful will go on to participate in BRC National Championships. Details of the Championships you are qualifying for can be found here

 

There are various levels to compete at. Keep and eye on our Blog for details of forthcoming events, and let Amy know well in advance if you are interested.

 

It is compulsory that all horses are vaccinated up to date for flu to compete in BRC competitions, see our flu vac checker here.

You must pay a minimum of £15 when you agree to compete which is not refundable. 

 

When you enter an area qualifier, please make sure that you are available and willing to compete at the championships. 

 

Speak with us about the details and dates for competitions, or they may be available on the Area 15 website with schedules

 

Prelim entries must be submitted by club to BRC at least 21 days before the competition date.

We will need to know your full name and your horses full name as written on the passport. We will want to see your passport and flu vaccination record before entering you.

What do I need to know about BRC affiliated events?

 

Commitment

Whilst team competitions are extremely enjoyable, team membership comes with some commitments that you will need to make to the team. Committee members will be happy to answer any questions or provide support should you wish to participate.

 

Your horse

Your horse will need up to date vaccinations in order to participate in Area and National events. The  can help you make sure that your horse is fully eligible. You must take your passport to all competitions.

Rules

The BRC competitions are run under BRC rulesClub rules also apply. These set out criteris for each competition, including eligibility of horses and riders, tack, clothing, conduct at events, elimiations and prohibited substnaces. Please make sure that you are aware of the rules, any queries please ask!

 

BRC Guidelines for Riding Hats (2012)

New rules apply from January 2012 where at BRC events all hats must be checked and tagged with a BRC blue tag. If your hat has been tagged for eventing, it must also be tagged for BRC. Tagging will take place at BRC events, please allow plenty of time to have them checked.

 

Body Protectors

Anyone who wishes to take part in area qualifiers must ensure that their body protector meets BRC requirements of being manufactured in or after year 2000. Body Protectors are compulsory for Juniors in all jumping competitions, and compulsory for all in Cross Contry phases or events.

 

Prohibited Substances & Blood Testing

There are prohibited substances that you are not allowed to give or apply to your horse when competing at BRC competitions. These follow the FEI prohibited substances list. Blood tests of horses can be undertaken at competitions. 

BRC take this seriously and ban people and horses from any BRC activities, this would mean your weekly lessons too!

You may be surprised that substances commonly used, not just orally but topical application including creams. Any queries ask us or contact your vet or supplier.
